We do not encourage sleep in our setting. However we will accommodate those who need it. Younger children may need to sleep but older children do not usually need to. No child is made to sleep.
All children
-
Children sleep on rest mats in the kitchen with a member of staff present.
-
Hair accessories that may come lose or detach may be removed.
-
If children fall asleep in-situ it may be necessary to move or wake them to make sure they are comfortable, they are not left to sleep where they could be accidentally stepped on.
-
Sleeping children are regularly checked at least every ten minutes and are within sight and/or hearing of staff.
-
Temperature is checked at each sleep check. If the temperature falls below 18 degrees or raises to above 23 degrees sleep checks become every 5 minutes.
-
If a child does not usually nap parents will be called immediately and informed.
